Sol

I take in my surroundings. After crawling over a seat and out of the back row, and finally pulling my back pack out from between the seats, I look around. I see two big cabins across the street with smaller ones lined up on either side. After Elizabeth talks to us and I grab a bunk, I run toward the sound of the waves. There was a small wall separating us from the beach. I excitedly hopped over it and ran. People where squealing and laughing as they soaked there feet into the water. I run to join them. The water was cold but refreshing. I laugh and jump over the waves and completely soaked. I can't wait for this trip.

cress

This week I read Cress. It is the third book in the lunar chronicles series and I would recommend reading the books in order. I put a url to another review of the book below. I really like this series. It is basically a bunch of futuristic fairytales mashed together.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11235712-cinder
WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS
Cress has been trapped in a satellite since she was a little girl. She works for the evil Queen Levana, who has been keeping her alive to help hack the computers of and spy on there enemies. She is rescued from her satellite from Linh Cinder and her friends, and now is a wanted criminal in the middle of the start of a intergalactic war.
I liked this book it was interesting, clever, and was a great addition to the series. I would recommend this book to everyone in our class who is willing to read it.

Limericks

Mina
There once was a girl named Mina
Who wanted to be a ballerina
But while walking through the park
She was attacked by laser sharks
And that was the last of Mina

A Boy Named Sue
There once was a boy named Sue
Who would have proffered to called be Lou
He tried to kill his Dad
His life is song which made him mad
And Johnny Cash doesn't know what to do

The Fall of Myspace
There once was a place called myspace
Which was a social media place
But then came Facebook
and without one last look
Everyone left myspace

poem

She flew down
Face first she went down the slide
Her teachers told her not to and her friends told her she was crazy
She went anyway
She always did
When she was younger her parents would take her to the park to play
There were other kids there who were to scared to even approach the slide
But she always would always go strait to the slide and push herself down
Face first
It was fun and she loved it
So when she approached the slide she wasn't scared
She could hardly wait
She layed down and looked ahead
She couldn't see the end of the slide because it turned but that didn't damper her excitement
She took a deep breath and pushed
It went much faster than she expected and soon
Splat
She couldn't understand it had worked all the other times, why not now
The fall had temporarily knocked the wind out of her and she could feel her chin and knees hurting
Screams escaped her mouth and tears ran down her face
A teacher ran towards her and she kept crying, not just because she was hurt, but because she was shocked
because she flew to close to the sun and was burned

Reality boy

I really liked this book. I thought it was clever interesting and thought provoking. It is about a boy named Gerald. When he was little his mother invited a nannying reality TV show to film at his house. Twelve years later it is still effecting him and causing day to day trauma. Will Gerald always be the boy on Tv or will he be able to escape that title and make a life for himself. This book was  great.I would recommend it to most kids in our class.

Occasional poem

Smash
Friends reunite
Crash
Families are put back together
Crack
People see each other for the first time in years
The wall is coming down
People are full of joy
Smash
People are exited
Crash
 people can go home
Crack
for the first time in years
The wall is crumbling down
It has been long enough
Smash
People stand shocked
Crash
watching it fall
Crack
It is stunning because for the first time in years
A wall won't be found
People embrace
Smash
Whoop and cheer
Crash
Joy is in the air
Crack
People are happy everywhere
and for the first time in years
The wall is down

ode

Ode to butter coffee

Oh butter coffee so sweet and tasty
Your creamy brown color makes me smile
With your creamy fabulousness you have earned a place in my heart
How can you be so simple yet so delicious
How can you make a disgusting sounding mixture taste like heaven
I wonder...
The day I found you my life made a turn for the better...or is it the butter
I remember the day I first tasted butter coffee..,
At first it sounded disgusting and like a horrible idea, but later I found out how wrong I was
Until then I hated the idea of mixing the already great taste of coffee with anything else but milk and sugar
That day I learned that there is one thing better then normal coffee... buttered coffee
I mixed the coconut oil, milk, and melted butter in a blender expecting some thing bad
I poured the coffee into the blender and added ice cringing as I turned on the blender.
I poured the brown creamy mixture into a small glass and took a sip
It was great but it was missing something
Out of the pantry I grabbed vanilla and stevia
I measured 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla and mixed it in
I then put some stevia in
1 drop
2 drop
3 drops
I drank the mixture
I knew then I had found magic
Oh buttered coffee how great you are
I hope that you fill my mornings with joy forever

Haiku

Giraffes
Extemely awkward
Odd creatures with useless horns
Giraffes are awesome

Domino's gift
(Domino is my dog)

I got you a gift
Blood and feathers galore
Why don't you like birds

Pudding
I enjoy pudding
Chocolate pudding is best
This Haiku is done

Sol the hair cut

"Are you sure" My mom says
I look out the car window at the hair salon. Its a small brick building at the end of the block. It has ivy growing up the side and garden filled with little white flowers. There is a big window in place of a wall on one side. I can see people sitting in chairs talking to there hairdressers and reading magazines.
"Yeah" I respond
My mom looks at me with her eyebrow raised smiling.
"Ok then" she says getting out of the car.
I open the door and look down at my hair. It is long it comes down about four inches past my shoulders. I pick up a dark brown strand and hold it between my fingers and examine it. I drop it and get out of the car.
My mom holds open the door to salon, and I walk in. We both casually sit down in the waiting room and wait for our name to be called. While we are waiting I contemplate what I am about to do.

Cut all your hair off are you insane?
It will look great
You'll look ridiculous
No I won't It will be awesome, I mean YOLO right
YOLO is just a way people justify there stupid actions
This isn't stupid
Yes it is
It isn't...is it?
It is
I am about to tell my mom that I don't want to do this when our name is called
"Woodberry"
Oh god
My mom talks to the lady at the front while Brad ( My hairdresser/family friend) takes me int the back.
"So" Brad say"You want a pixie cut?"
"Yeah"
"And your not going to chicken out this time"
"No"
Brad smiles at me.
"So how's school" He asks casually
"Good, I mean its over but good"
"Thats good"
"Hey Brad" I say
"Yeah" He responds
"Do you think my hair is ing enough for locks of love?"
Brad looks at it. He than opens a near by drawer and pulls out a tape measure.
"Just barely, but yes"
"Awesome"
He grabs a pony tail holder and puts my hair up. He grabs his scissors and looks at me.
"Are you sure" He says
I smile and nod. The is no turning back now
I take a deep breath

book blog

This week I read Define Normal by Julie Anne Peters. It is about a girl named Antonia. For extra credit Antonia takes up the job of being a peer counselor for Jasmine Luthor. Jasmine or Jazz, appears rude, rebellious, and the exact opposite of Antonia. Antonia at first is miserable, but after awhile learns that people are not always what they seem. This book was pretty good. I enjoyed the idea and the author did a nice job showing the connection between these two. I do feel like it was missing something although I don't know exactly what. I feel like the author didn't really go as deep into it as she could have. Overall this was a great book and I  would recommend this to most people in my class.

sol march 31 DONE AT LAST!!!!!

I am finally done with this misery. MARCH IS OVER WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I am so happy for this to be finished.  No more late nights because I forgot my slice until the last minute (that happened at least five times). I am sooooooooo glad this is over. I wish I could say I never have to do this again but I also have march next year to look forward to ( sigh). For everyone who will be stuck with me next year can we agree to create a petition or something against it. Just something that will prevent this misery from taking place again. Ok I am hungry so I am going to go get something to eat... so yeah... happy last slice everyone.

sol mach 30

I am slowly going insane. very very slowly... but surely going insane.
Young children are everywhere. Normally they would be cute but to be completely honest I didn't want to have to deal with them.  I normally love christmas. The whole family is together, people are happy, presents are exchanged, and it is one of the few times a year when you can stuff your face with food and nobody judges you. But with the magic comes some issues, annoying relatives, bad presents, and of course bad christmas parties. Ok I can imagine that for some people christmas parties can be fun, but for others it is misery. Today I am stuck at christmas party hosted by some family friends. The majority of the kids there are under 7 and are complaining about god knows what for god knows reason. The only two people my age are in the corner talking to each other, I tried approaching them, apparently I make a great third wheel. So I am sitting on the couch with a kid next to me bouncing up and down. They are everywhere, screaming, crying, whining, I am going insane.
slowly...
slowly...
going
crazy

"Princesses always eat doughnuts" Gigi says
"But the princess has already had two doughnuts" Jessica says
Jessica is a close friend of the family. We are visiting her and her family in Charleston SC for break.
"But mommy" Gigi says
Gigi is wearing a princess dress and a tiara. The dress is pink with a blue bow and ruffles. With her dress Gigi is wearing a paper crown colored in with purple, blue, and pink crayon. She is holding her "royal scepter" in one hand and in the other she is holding her kitty.
"Gigi" I say "How about instead we go to the park"
"Ok" She says sulking off into her stroller, her plastic heels clicking as she passed
We walk to the park. My dad and Butler ( Gigi's dad) walk up ahead talking about there brackets in basketball. Gigi, Jessica, Carson, my mom, and I walk behind them my mom and Jessica talking while Carson and I walk beside them. We eventually arrive at the park. Gigi runs out of her stroller into towards the slide while I go grab a bench to sit down on near by. I sit down and lean back and close my eyes and stay like that until we have to go home.

How to be a princess (according to a two year old)

"Swoan" Gigi says as we walk into her room. Gigi is wearing a green dress with leggings and dragging her baby doll on the floor.
As we enter her room she pulls out a box from her closet
"You are my royal servant" She says casually
"Ok" I reply
"So my lady" I say in a exaggerated tone "Why exactly must you change you outfit"
Gigi turns around and raises an eyebrow " Because those are the official  rules of being a princess"  She says as if it was obvious " You must always change your outfit especially before dinner"
"Ok" I say
Rule 1. You must always change your outfit, a dinner change is mandatory
I start to dig through her outfits. I pull out a pink tutu and a ruffled white shirt. Gigi comes over to look at it and frowns.
"That is day outfit" she says giving her hair an exaggerated flip " I need a dinner outfit"
"Ok" I say confused. I have no idea what a "dinner outfit" is or isn't. God I would make a horrible servant.
Rule 2. Don't wear a day outfit to dinner
Eventaully I find a dress that qualifies as a "dinner outfit". It is pink, poofy, and flowy with little silver sequins lining the edges. I would not be caught dead in it. Gigi gives it a twirl and giggles showing her baby teeth. I help her slip on pink plastic high heels with a picture of Cinderella on the front. Ahe then motions for me to help her put on her gloves. The white gloves are big and don't fit on her hands.
"But Gigi they don't fit"
"Swoan a princess must always wear her gloves" she replies
Rule 3. A princess must always wear gloves even if they don't fit
Gigi walks over to her shelve to grab a septer and then walks out the door her shoes clicking behind her.
" Swoan come on" Gigi says "time for you to make my royal crown"
TO BE CONTINUED....(mostly just because I am exahausted and need sleep)

sol march 26

I clip the metal leash on to Domino's collar. We have had to switch to a metal leash after she bit through a rope one last november to attempt at catching a near by squirrel. Domino is wagging her tail so much that her back half has started shaking. She licks me and jumps up on my knee as put my sneakers on. I put on my red windbreaker and push open the front door. Our front door is old and heavy and takes a few pushes to swing open. I shut the door and walk down the front path to my next obstacle... the gate.
Our gate is like our front door, but worse. The latch doesn't fully work am it takes me a minute to two minutes to open. I pull up the latch and push, it doesn't budge. I do this again slightly harder, no result. Now I yank the latch upwards and slam into the gate. It swings open as I stumble out Domino walking beside me. I close it and go on my way.
I start walking down the street careful to avoid patches of ice. I pull out my earbuds, and walk on while I attempt to untangle them. I put the right one in and leave the left hanging out as I plug them into my phone. I click the shuffle button and continue walking. I hear the intro of Dead or Alive start in as Domino starts tugging in the direction of a near by rabbit. I rap the leash around my hand and she looks up at me pleading with her big brown eyes. I keep walking as she tugs back towards where the rabbit scurried off into the bushes.
I look down at her
"Maybe some other time"

book blog

This week I read Dash and Lily's Book of Dares. I liked it, the story was fun and well paced. This book is about a boy named Dash. Dash while searching in his favorite bookstore come across a red notebook. The notebook tells Dash to go around completing random tasks and then when finished leave a phone number or email address, along with the book at the front desk. But when Dash returns the book he leaves his own set of instructions, and hence the game begins. The red notebook is returned to a girl named Lily, who set the notebook out in the store at her brothers suggestion to find love. She follows the notebooks and instructions and leaves her own. Now Dash and Lily are sending back and forth the notebook filling it with dares, hopes, and dreams. I liked this book. It was clever, funny, and interesting. It is a quicker read and I would recommend it to somebody that is looking for something more playful.

My head hurts
My body aches
My foot is numb
My hands shake
I will use every excuse it takes
Just please don't take me to Karate
My neck is sore
My knee is bleeding
Its such a bore
And the kids are annoying
I will scream and claw, scratch, gnaw
If you force me into Karate
I have a lot of work
My blood sugar is low
I am going berserk
Please don't make me go
I am giving you a mean look
It won't really help much
I guess I can read my book
I can't believe that you made me go to... Karate

"Oh Hi there little girl! Whats your name"
"Dorathy"
My mom rolls her eyes as the check out girl looks confused. We are standing in line at the grocery store. I am five, and having an obsession with The Wizard Of Oz I have decided that my name is Dorathy, and My brother's new name is Toto. My hair is put in to two messy attempts at braids hanging past my shoulders. I had decided as dedication to Dorathy I would wear my hair in "braids". This was not only difficult because I didn't know how to braid hair, but because of the curly hair I had at the time. So instead of Dorathy's perfect braids I had clumps of twisted hair tied together with bobby pins and pony tail holders.  Along with my "braids"I am wearing a worn white and blue gingham apron. The apron was slightly to small and tight around the waist with a frayed hem at the bottom.
The check out girl coming to a moment of realization smiles at me.
"Well isn't that sweet!" she says with fake enthusiasm
I give a wide grin and wait over by the door with my brother, who at the time was just learning to talk.  The cashier looks at me, and then back at my mom knowingly as I pass them. Carson or "Toto" babbles at me as I walk towards him.
"Hi Toto" I say to him
My mom walks over towards my brother and I with brown bags of groceries in both of her hands.
"Come on Slo-"
"Dorathy" I corrected with an annoyed look on my face.
"Come on Dorathy" She says smiling "Lets go home"
"Ok" I said
Mom, My brother, and I walked out towards the car. I got in, closed my eyes, and for the rest of the ride, clicked my heels saying "There's No Place Like Home."

WARNING: this slice is random and kind of confusing

"Oh crap" I say " I forgot to write my slice"
" Ill grab the computer" Lena says
She returns with her computer in hand. She opens it up and turns it on.
"So what are you going to write your slice about" She says
" I'll write it about this very moment" I reply
She raises an eyebrow
"Ok then..."
The Lena goes off into the corner whispering death threats to her apponents in clash of clans. She has asked me to not write that last part which of course I will. The Lena is now rolling her eyes at me for writing this. She is now shrugging and saying she doesn't care. The Lena is returning to her iPhone to play frogger, no not frogger, she informs me, crossy road, which is a rip off of frogger. I kinda suck at frogger that's ok I can still kick butt in Mario Kart. The Lena has informed she is hungry, a feeling which I share. The Lena is screaming no because her high score for has "died in a hole." Now Lena is banging phone on the ground she because died her video game. Its almost dinner now so I will be leaving. Goodbye.

"Race you!"
My brother springs out of the car and starts running towards the direction of our house.
I look over at my mom asking permission. She shrugs and smiles as I throw the door open and then toss it closed behind me.
We are about two to three blocks from our house my mom drives next to us cheering us on for a bit, but then drives ahead of us to get home. My brother, Carson, is faster then I thought and takes me a bit to pass him avoid patches of ice and melting snow along the way. He grabs the back of my green hoodie and pulls me back so he can pass me. I then catch up to him and return the favor.
"Hey" he says surprised
"What goes around comes around"
We have been running for a few minutes and I see our house getting closer. I push myself to run a bit faster and my brother does the same. I look back at my brother who is grinning mischievously at me and I see a ball of half melted snow in his hand. He throws it at me and I dodge it,  nearly hitting my shoulder. My house is much closer now, I am about thirty feet away. Then I feel a familiar jerk on the back of my hoodie as my brother yet again pulls me back. He cuts in front of me and before I know it he has one hand on the fence.
"Beat you"
"This time"
He opens the gate and lets me in
"But" I say "I am still the Mario Kart queen"
"Not for long" He replies as we walk inside.

SOL March 19

No…
Not this…
Anything but this…
I look at my ipad a look of horror on my face, I look away from the ipad at Domino who is sitting next to me expecting a treat. I cant believe this is happening, why me, and why of all times now. I look back at the ipad to see the two ugliest, most despicable, worst word I have ever seen.
NO CONNECTION
Oh the horror…
I put my ipad down on the couch and start pacing back and forth. Oh the agony, Oh the tragedy, oh the boredom. What if I was reduced to actually doing something productive, like walking the dog, or going outside, being productive, or shudder…doing homework.
I disconnect and reconnect but it is no use, It won’t work. The worst part is that I was watching Glee and I was left on a HUGE cliffhanger. Also I have my slice of life due later… but that’s not as important.
I decide to take a break from my “very important dilemma” to make myself a snack, and by snack I mean a microwave cake souflee thingy and a batch of cookies. As I fold the pecans into the white mixture ( I am making forget me nots) and take a handful of a chocolate chips and toss them in. I realize that I need to figure out the nutritional information so I pull up google and look up carbs in ¼ cup of chocolate chips…wait a minute.,, google… wifi!!!

I pull up Netflix as quickly as I can to find that it works! I click glee as I put the cookies on a sheet and continue my binge watching activities.

sol march 17 book blog

This week I finished Dorathy Must DieDorathy Must Die is about a girl named Amy Gumm who is living in a trailer in Kansas. She, like Dorathy, gets caught in a tornado and is taken away to Oz. But unlike the books and movies Oz has become a wasteland, with Dorathy as the evil dictator. Now it is up to Amy to kill Dorathy and restore Oz. This book was clever, fun, and memorable. It was a clever twist on the the story and included many elements from the original book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is open to reading it.

Well sometimes I go out by myself and I look across the water
I bite my lip as I hold back tears. God Onions can be so annoying. I take a deep breath, the candle that was supposed to help is failing at its job. I wave a rag in the air hoping it will help
And I think of all the things that you do and in my head I paint a picture
At least the music is good. I continue my fight against the onions. Finally they are diced to perfection. I grab a handful and toss it in the big pan on the stove. The pan hisses, and I turn down the heat.
Cause since I've come home my body's been a mess
I grab another pan in the drawer beside the stove and turn on the heat. I grab my stick of butter off the near by counter top and cut a large slab off. As the butter slowly melts I start cutting up the tofu.
And I miss your ginger hair and the way you like to dress
I cut the tofu into tiny squares as I hum along with the music. I grab a spatula from a near by drawer and stir up the onions.
Why don't you come on over stop making a fool out of me
I grab the tofu that I have cut up and put it in the sizzling pan. I let the tofu cook while I stir the onions.
Why don't you come on over Valerie
By now I am belting the song like a complete weirdo while stirring onions. I am kinda curious to see what this would like from the point of view of someone passing by. I realize It's time to flip the tofu. I do this while singing (of course) and snag a piece from the pan. I take pride in myself knowing that I cooked something that doesn't completely suck. Yay mediocrity.

WARNING this is a ramble  if you don't like it then I'm sorry
I want to listen to music, but at the same time my head phones are upstairs and I don't want to go dig through my room to find them. Plus music is distracting and what I really need to do is finish my slice. GRRRRR. Why can't this end so I can  go on youtube for half an hour or go play Mario Kart. We got the new version last weekend and it is extremely addicting. My brother is pissed off that I an taking over his wii but he'll get over it. I am tempted to stop what I am doing and finish it later. Haha nope. I unfortunately can't trust myself to do that because I know that I will probably never get this done if I don't do it now. I kinda hungry. Maybe I should go get something to eat. I could make one of my microwave souflee thingyies...
yes
no
yes
no
maybe
yes
I have returned with a microwave souflee thingy by my side. Its vanilla with chocolate and frozen berries ( more like exfrozen berries) mixed in. mmmmmmm chocolate and frozen berries. Oh Homer Simpson you are so quotable. Well I think my slice is almost long enough, so for your entertainment I added a bit about how my slice is just about long enough... also a quote from Homer Simpson

Kam or Katherinous Plasekious is a native creature of Max's class, It has survived and thrived for many years in this toxic climate. The Kam can also be found in libraries, rockies games, and most warm places.  The Kam's main diet consists mainly of frozen smoothies, oatmeal, and coffee, it sometimes strays from this diet occasionally eating whatever she can find, but not often. During the winter The Kam will cocoon herself in a series of sweaters, quilts, blankets, hats, gloves, and slippers. Some believe that this is a hibernation technique, but The Kam has been known to crave heat even when it isn't necessary. Kams will not commonly be seen without a layer of some sort, this is because if Kams get to cold they will explode. If you see a cold Kam contact your local sweater store immediately. The Kam is kind to all other animals in her habitat. The Kam can be seen giving hugs and pats on the head to other creatures. The Kam does not enjoy being photographed and can be seen giving evil stares to cameras as seen above. The Kam is a peaceful creature and always has good book recommendations.  If you see a Kam in the wild it would be recommended to approach it because of its kind nature, also there is a possibility that you might get candy.

I am ready to pass out.
I have hiked for an hour uphill with the hot  sun beating down on my back.
"Just a little higher" says my grandma or as I call her Gramcraker.
After five more minutes of walking we all stop.
"Where here" says Gramcracker.
I tilt my head up just enough so I can see what is in front of me.
It's a huge red rock the size of boulder with is covered by a canopy of trees.
"Were are we I ask my mom who is next me.
"We're at Tomato Rock" says my mom smiling.
My grandmother my mom and I sit down on a shady log  a couple feet from the rock.
We sip water and eat energy bars and talk for about thirty minutes.
Then we get up and walk right back down the gravel road down to our cottage.
I open the back door and as I do I feel a fresh gust of cool air which feels great.
I walk over to the couch next to my grandfather.
"Were did you go" he asked
I smile and say proudly
"We went to tomato rock."

I boost myself up on to a the first branch. Then I grab the second and hoist myself even farther upwards. I look down as my cousin tries to follow me.
Tries I think
Not succeeds
I keep on going higher and higher.I reach the point where all the other tree limbs are unsteady.
I smile and grab some candy from my easter basket I have conveniently stashed up here.
I pop in my earbuds and press shuffle.I quietly look out on the street and garden below.
I decide to count the cars passing by
one
two
three
four
five
I love and hate easter. One you get to eat candy but that one has kinda changed for me (stupid pancreas failure). Another is that I get to see my grandma. I love old people, they usually are caring and considerate. Plus my grandma makes a killer roast beef.
Maybe I should go inside and get some more
but my cousin might catch me
cousin

I hop down from the tree and go get some more roast beef

This week I read Dorathy Must Die by Danielle Paige. I am really enjoying this book. It is clever, fun, and a really good twist off the original. Dorathy Must Die is about a girl named Amy Gumm who is living in a trailer in Kansas. She, like Dorathy, gets caught in a tornado and is taken away to Oz. But unlike the books and movies Oz has become a wasteland, with Dorathy as the evil dictator. Now it is up to Amy to kill Dorathy and restore Oz. So far I love this book. It is fun, interesting, and well written. I would recommend this book to just about anyone in our (or linda's) class.

"Well be leaving in just a minute let me just go say goodbye too...oh hey you I haven't seen you in..."
I sat in the corner, I have always felt awkward at weddings. You have relatives you don't even remember, talking about how cute of a baby you where and how much you've grown. Then you are forced to (shiver) socialize.
I walk outside. Its nice out, its warm with a slight breeze and very sunny. I walk down the steps and go sit by the edge of the fountain. I look around to see if anyone is nearby, nobody is so I pop open my book and start reading.
I dive into the world of detective Michel Bennant whom is trying to catch a killer while keep his hectic family from spinning out of control. It's not a good book and I know this, The characters are badly developed, the killer is obvious, but at least it will occupy my focus until we can finally go. I sit out by the fountain my legs folded to my side reading for the next hour until we can leave.

sol march 8th

I look down into the water firmly clutching the metal bars next to me.
Its the middle of July, I am at the swimming pool finally confronting my fear of the high dive. Ok not me really more of my friend Libby forcing me to confront my fear and me fighting her while she drags me up the stairs to the top of the dive.
"Come on Sloan you can do it"
I consider walking back down, but I know that Libby would probably just push me of off it, and honestly I would much rather jump of myself then be pushed.
I look back at her pleadingly
"Come on people are waiting just jump" she responds
I look back down at the water. The pool below is deep but its hard to tell because of how far up we are.
I can do this. I walk towards the edge of the board slowly. I am at the very edge now looking down. Might as well get it over with I say to myself.
I close my eyes

I jump
A small yelp escapes me as fall towards the water. When I hit the water it hurts. I hold my breath underwater as I swim back up to the surface. When I reach the surface I see a giant splash, and a few seconds later Libby swimming towards me grinning.
"Wasn't that bad now was it"
I roll my eyes
"I am starved lets go grab something to eat" I respond as we get out of the pool and walk toward the refreshments stand for lunch.

sol march 4th 4/31

The summer sun is beating down on my shoulders as I carry out a wooden stool and a homemade sign reading:
Homemade Lemonade (scribble) 1$ a cup
under it is a drawing of a lemon that looks more like a demented jelly bean. I walk up to the side of hiking trail my brother waiting for me with a pitcher of lemonade in one hand and a stack of paper cups in the other.
"Come on Sloan"
I put down the stool and taped the sign to the front of the white plastic table I brought up a few minutes ago. My brother Carson and I sit down and wait...
and wait...

and wait...

about an hour and half has passed and we have only had four costumers. My brother went inside awhile ago to make some more lemonade and hasn't returned. I sit there waiting in complete boredom.
"Hey Sloan"
I turn around to see Carson holding to glasses walking toward a the patio table below me.
"Bring the pitcher"
Carson helps me pack up the stand and we sit down at the table. I pour the both of us a glass of lemonade. We sit outside for awhile and finish the pitcher. We only made 4$ but at least the lemonade tasted good.

book blog march 3rd 3/31

This week I read Hope Was Here. It's about a girl named Hope who moves to Westconsin to work with her aunt Addie at The Stairways Diner. Hope thinks that this will be just another move (her and her aunt move around constantly for working reasons) that is until there cancer stricken boss and friend G.T. decides to run for mayor. Now Hope is tied not only in her new job but in town politics. Will she be able to manage?
I liked this book. It is not my favorite book but I did like it. I would recommend this to people who do not want to read anything that serious but want a good book.

sol march 2nd 2/31

DISCLAIMER: This is just me rambling on about random stuff, if you don't like this then I'm sorry.

I am tiered, and kinda hungry but I need to finish my homework before I can do anything else. I am tempted to make a quick snack but I know a"quick snack" is not going to happen. The closest thing to a "quick snack" is " A quick snack that turns into me cooking something and then getting distracted". Maybe I could go just get a scoop of peanut butter... maybe... but homework comes first. Oh homework how I despise you but I can't get rid of you so I might as well do it.
I am starting to get a headache and I am having trouble focusing on my work. I am going to do this finish a few other things and then take a nap. That sounds good.

"Sloan unload the dishwasher before I come back"
"Mmmuuumph"
"I'll be back before 10:00"
"Mmmuuumph"
The door to my room shuts
About thirty minutes later I hear the front door open and then close.
I stare up at the ceiling
I should probably get out of bed
but it's so warm and comfy
what about getting a fresh start on the day
but... it's so soft
I finally decide to get out of bed but not before letting out one final "Mmmuuumph".  I take a quick shower brush my teeth and put on a t shirt and some sweat pants. I walk down stairs to the kitchen for breakfast. I look down at my phone, it is 8:27. I hop on to one of the stools but the counter and pull out my testing kit. I prick my finger and put the blood on the little strip in the meter.
For those who don't know I have Type 1 diabetes, in other words a really crappy, sucky, pancreas that doesn't work. I like to picture my pancreas as a little whiny creature inside me always complaining and being annoying.
but I don't wanna work
but I don't wanna help out
As I imagine what my annoying pancreas would look like I give myself some insulin for my food and start making breakfast. I pop a peace of toast in the toaster oven and pour some milk. By the time Im finished I realize I have some time I have to wait to eat my food. I turn on the tv and put The Simpsons on. Eventually its time for me to eat and as I do so I watch Homer Simpson and Ned Flanders argue. Sometime passes and I hear the front door open.
crap
My mom comes in.
"Heeeeeeeeeey Mom"
"Hey Sloan, you get the dishwasher cleared"
"Uuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh..."

book blog

This week I read The Adoration Of Jenna Fox. This book is about a girl who wakes up from a 18 month coma. As her memories return to her bit by bit she wonders if she is the same person 18 months ago then she is now. This book was great. It was clever exciting and had some unexpected twists that were really fun. My one complaint is the pacing but otherwise it was spectacular. I would recommend this book to people who really enjoy fiction.

book blog

This week I read everybody sees the ants by AS King. It is about a boy named Lucky who is being bullied. Eventually it gets so bad that his mother decides to leave town with him for a month to go visit some relatives. Luck soon learns how to face his fears and stand up to the kid that is bullying him. THis book was amazing. It was clever, interesting, and had a nice pace. I would recommend this book strongly to all that have not read it.

"I wanna watch TV"
I have been babysitting her for an hour and already I wanna blow my brains out.
"That's fine Alice but first we need to clean up the dolls"
"But I might wanna play with them later"
"I don't care we have to clean up first"
"FINE! We'll play dolls then"
" I didn't..."
"I said ok!"
I can't yell at her all though the urge is strong, this is because if I do my She will tell my Aunt who will tell my Mom and then I will get in trouble. Alice gives me the role Laura the evil neighbor who is trying to kill Angie, the good guy who lives in a pink frilly house, with a pink car, and a pink dog.
I look down at Laura .  Her hand is missing and her hair has nail polish in it. She is wearing a black furry vest with a pink and purple dress. I feel a bit of pity, if I was surrounded by that much pink I think I would probably become homicidal maniac too.
"Alright I am done now"
"Ok then lets clean up"
"UGH! Really?"
"Yup"
"Fine"
This is followed by another UGH as she starts throwing the barbies in the bin, one by one. Every three seconds or so she gives me the death stare, and then continues angrily throwing the dolls ing the bin. When she is about halfway through she stops.
"This is so unfair"
"Life is unfair"
"No its not"
"Well then I am just unfair then huh"
"Yes you are"
She starts throwing the dolls ing again until I hear the front door open.
Freedom at last

The Great Greene heist

I didn't really like this book. I mean it was ok but  I feel like it appeals to a younger demographic. The story is about trouble maker Jackson Greene who has decided to "change is trouble making ways", this is until his arch enemy Keith Sinclair decides to run against his "ex almost girlfriend" Gabriela De la Cruz. After discovering this, and also finding out that Keith plans to rig the election in his favor, Jackson Greene is back on the job. I feel like this book had a good story, and interesting characters, but just didn't appeal to me. I would still recommend this book to most people in our class ( and linda's ) if they are interested.

No. This is the worst thing that could happen. I am screwed.
"Mom the Wi Fi is down again!"
I am at least 90% sure I have Spanish work due tomorrow, and me being, well me, I put it off until the last minute.
"Just do your work Sloan"
"I can't"
"Figure it out"
"My work is online"
 "... try reconnecting"
"Already did"
"Which network"
"Tried both"
"Just do what you can"
I am panicing. I decide to try read to pass the time, but it is impossible to focus with something like this hanging over me. I have already missed a lot of assignments I can't afford to miss another. I decide to google ways to relive stress. I don't find anything very helpful.
wait...I have google! The Wifi is back!
I quickly pull up my work. Anticipating the worst, then I see the two best words that can ever be said by a teacher.
No homework
thank god

"Chuck it!" everyone screams.
With the summer breeze toying with my hair, and the stars shining down on my face, I throw the can as far as possible. It's not really a can just a bunch of duct tape wrapped around a soda bottle. I contemplate this as I jump into the back of the  Greeer's pick up truck. Brittany is sitting behind me. This had been the first time this year we had seen each other and it felt good to be together again.
We peek out of the truck bed at my brother in the middle of the circle. As time passes we hear our friends get called out.
"Mary Jane behind the oak tree"
"Skip behind the grey toyota"
"Anna in the bushes"
In this time we have developed a plan.Brittany runs in front of my brother in my hoodie while I sneak up behind him kick the can.

" I swear to god the are planning my murder"
"They're not that bad"
"This one is missing an eye"
"Just put her towards the back of the tree"
"It's creepy"
"It's a tradition"
My parents continue to argue. Ever since I can remember my family (on my mom side) has decorated our christmas with dolls. It's a strange way of doing things but you get used to it. I pick up Princess Diana wrapped in bubble wrap. I put her off to side to put up later, another habit my family has is putting the couples together. Princess Diana is on the coffee table next to Anne of Cleves, Henry the 8th, and Romeo.
"Sloan"
"Yes"
"Can you go outside with your brother"
"Sure"
I Walk over to the mud room and pull on my snow pants, parka, boots, and gloves. My brother looks over at me eagerly. I open the door to leave.
"She's missing a arm
"It's covered by the cape"
"No its not"
I feel a burst of cold air. The snow has covered everything.
SPLAT
I see the reminisce of a snow on the brick below me. My brother looks at me with a sinister grin. I run towards him and push into the the snow. He pulls me down with him. I grab some nearby snow and shove it in his face.
This goes on for about an hour. By now we have established bases. I doge behind a snow covered bush while my brother attacks me with snowballs.
"Sloan, Carson, Lunch time"
The snow balls stop. My brother looks at me.
"Truce" I say
"For Now" He responds

book bog

this week I read Code Name Verity. The story is about our main character, code named Verity, She has been captured by Nazis and is being held at a hotel converted prison. She is being forced to rat out codes, bases, and other information. The story (or at least where I am at) is told by our main character writing her confession to her interrogators. I personally don't really like this book so far. I feel like it is good book and has a good writing style, but I personally don't find it interesting.

I am staring at my empty page. I am to tiered to think of anything remotely creative. I just want to go to bed, but I have to finish my slice of life first, so I stay awake. The later I stay up the more tiered I get and the less ideas I can think of, so on and so forth.

I stare at the cursor taunting me, the more I stare the more tiered I become, the more tiered I become the more grumpy I get, the more grumpy I get the more I hate that stupid cursor.

Music might help. Praying for inspiration I open grooveshark in another tab. Grooveshark is this weird website with free songs that has become my go to for anything music related. Click liked songs just to see what comes on. I start to hear the intro to High Way to Hell. After about five minutes I realize I am procrastinating. So I go back to blogger.

I am greeted by a blank page and a blinking black cursor.

book blog

This week I read A Mango Shaped Space. It's about a girl named Mia who has Synesthesia, a condition where she sees specific colors and shapes for certain noises. When Mia discovers about her disorder (or discovers that she has a disorder) she develops god complex which begins to tear her life apart. I liked this book, I have never really seen a book play with god complexes and issues like this one. I think it was very well written and I would suggest it to most people in our (and Linda's if there viewing my blog) class.

"Sloan come over here"
My Grandmother waves me over. I just got back from the bathroom and all of a sudden everybody was crowding around the fire whispering. I walk over. I see a group of Masai warriors, talking.
I look at my grandmother, my eyebrows raised.
"SQAAAAA!"
I turn my head back to the Masai who have created a half circle. One of the Masai walks into the center and boosts himself up into the air and screams.
"SQAAAAA!"
The man leaves the center and joins the rest and somebody else steps into the center. He also jumps up into air.
"SQAAAAA!"
This goes on for awhile. After a few minutes they become silent and I hear a low hum. The hum rises into a chorus and they continue there jumping. It is incredible how high they can jump. I watch amazed until eventually it ends.

book blog

This week/ over break I read Pop goes the Weasel. This book was mediocre at best. The story is about Helen Grace a tortured, rebellious, cop (am I the only one who has noticed to be a bit of a stereotype) who has to catch a serial killer. The killer is a somewhat of a reverse Jack the Ripper, a prostitute killing her customers. This book had a annoyingly slow pacing, poorly developed characters, and has unrealistic ideas. I would not recommend this to anyone in our class.
